A lot of people wonder what’s behind a brand name. More importantly, they wonder why certain brands cost so much more than others, when the product for sale appears to be of nearly identical quality and current styling. It’s worth taking a moment to learn about why certain brands cost more than others before making your purchase. There are several valid reasons for pricing differences. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons behind those price differentials.

Training of the designer: One designer may have spent a lifetime learning the craft of fashion design and application. Another may be a knock off artist, whose sole creative input is to reverse engineer the hard, creative work of the other designer. With little in the way of input, costs are low, which can be passed along in the product pricing. If you’ve never heard the name on the tag of the item you’re considering purchasing, consider that it may not be an original.

American made: Little manufacturing occurs in America anymore these days. It’s mostly all been outsourced to countries where labor is far cheaper. Often, higher pricing can be a result of the company at hand choosing to produce their items with domestic labor. Since there is a minimum wage in America that doesn’t apply to other countries, costs are higher to produce goods here.

Bulk pricing: Large companies can afford to produce on a large scale than smaller companies. This can afford them lower production costs, which will also result in a lower end price to the consumer.

These are three reasons why you might notice a price difference between brands.
